On weekends, while others catch up on errands they missed during the weekdays, a group of Bangsamoro professionals adds a quiet but intentional routine to their schedules.
They pack their bags and spend the day learning about their religion at the Alhuffaz Iswaf Training Center, Sandakan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Sur.
This is the rhythm of life for students of the Qalbun Saleem Leadership Program (QSLP), a two-year leadership initiative designed for those who believe that leadership begins with a sound heart.
Unlike the conventional leadership training, QSLP recognizes the realities of its learner. Its 2 year structure is designed to align with the daily responsibilities of working professionals and students alike.
For its first semester, students move from discussions on: Introduction to Islamic Beliefs and practices, Basic Principles and Practices of Islamic Jurisprudence, Leadership and Management of the Prophet Muhammad, Fundamentals of Arabic Reading and Quranic Recitation, Foundations of Arabic Language and Personality and Professional Development.
Despite the province’s warm climate, the learning environment remains comfortable and conducive, allowing students to focus fully on the lectures and discussions.
“This program is really underrated, and I’m truly thankful that Allāh guided me to enroll,” shared one of the students.
The program emerged as a tool for a new kind of leadership formation following its launch last January 17 and 18. One that begins within and flows outward to families, institutions, and communities.
In a time when leadership is often measured by authority and power, the program affirms a simple truth: leadership begins with a sound heart.
